Bulgaria Tops Global Ranking for Mobile Internet Performance

Bulgaria has been ranked first in the world for mobile internet performance, according to an international comparison conducted by the telecommunications monitoring platform nPerf and cited by economic.bg.

The ranking is based on data collected over the period from January 1 to April 29, 2026, and evaluates the quality of mobile network services across a selected group of 20 countries. The assessment compares states and territories with similar levels of GDP per capita, aiming to determine which economies achieve the most efficient digital infrastructure relative to their financial capacity.

According to the findings, Bulgaria outperformed a wide range of competitors, including countries in Southern and Central Europe, several major global economies, and wealthy energy-exporting states in the Middle East. The result placed Bulgaria at the top of the global ranking for mobile internet quality and overall network performance.

The study highlights that Bulgaria's telecommunications sector is delivering results well above expectations based on the country's economic indicators. Analysts attribute this performance to continued investment in 5G network expansion, the development of fiber-optic infrastructure, and effective allocation and management of radio-frequency spectrum resources.

The report suggests that these combined factors have enabled Bulgaria to build a highly efficient and competitive digital environment, strengthening its position in global telecommunications comparisons despite its relatively modest economic scale.
