Baseball is one of the four major pillars holding up the sporting industry in the United States. Baseball was named the national sport of America in the late 19th century and had been building up its fan base ever since.
Major League Baseball (MLB)
The Major League Baseball (MLB) is the largest baseball league in the world and the oldest pro sports league in Canada and the US. With such a vast fanbase, this sport has some of the richest sports teams in the world, with the New York Yankees being worth just under $5 billion.
The MLB consists of twenty-nine US teams and one Canadian team. Each season consists of 162 games for each team, with only 5 teams advancing each round. The teams work hard all season towards making it to the penultimate tournaments, the World Series.
Let's take a closer look at the top-achieving teams when it comes to the MLB.
New York Yankees
By far the most successful team, the New York Yankees have dominated baseball for quite some time and are a safe bet when it comes to winning.
This team has competed in the World Series forty times, winning 27 times. They are also the first team to have won four years in a row, twice! Winning makes them the most valuable team in the MLB.
Their 4-year winning streaks happened between 1936-1939 and 1949-1953 and have intimidated the competition for decades. They have the highest number of AL Pennants wins, coming in at forty, and have won the East Division an astonishing eighteen times.
There's no doubt that this is the most successful baseball team in the MLB and possibly one of the top-achieving sports teams in the world.
The St Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals have nowhere near the same amount of MLB wins as the Yankees but sit comfortably in second place for the most successful baseball teams.
This Missouri team won the World Series 11 times between 1926 and 2011 after playing it nineteen times. The team has 19 NL pennants and 13 central division titles under their belts and continues its supreme reign as one of the most successful baseball teams in the world.
San Francisco Giants
The Giants are in constant competition with the A's and the Red Sox for third place on the most successful baseball teams list. Despite having one less win than the other two teams, their twenty World Series wins tip the scales slightly.
This team tied with the Dodgers for the most World Series appearances, winning eight titles between the years 1905-2014. Founded in the 1880s, this New York turned San Francisco team holds eight West Division titles and twenty-three ML Pennants.

Founded in 1882, the NL Central Division Club is one of the oldest teams in the United States. They made the World Series nine times, winning it five times between 1919 and 1990. They also have nine NL Pennants under their belt, which is still praiseworthy.
